Founder Susan Taing to speak at Inside 3D Printing

The Inside 3D Printing conference will take place again this year from April 2-4 in NYC at the Javits Convention Center. On April 3rd at 2:30pm, I'll be speaking at the Meet the Makers: Inspiring Innovation panel, along with Wayne Losey, Creative Director of Dynamo Development Labs and makers Kurt Wendt and Todd Blatt (speaker bios here).

We’ll blend fashion, technology, 3D printing, and DIY product development for your entertainment, and talk about how 3D printing is driving the hands-on homegrown revolution in arts, crafts, science and engineering. Come join us!

bhold's new headquarters in Long Island City, Queens

In January we were invited to join NYDesigns, a design and manufacturing incubator which supports and promotes creative entrepreneurs. Sponsored by the City University of New York, NYDesigns is based in Long Island City, Queens... so we’ve since moved in to join them!

We're excited to join other startups who have also adopted Long Island City as their new home, an area of New York City that has support to be a new tech and innovation hub. Former Mayor Bloomberg and New York City's Economic Development Corporation (EDC) have also backed LIC as a 3D printing and innovative manufacturing hub.

We also thought we'd share some photos of our new LIC office.

It's been great here, and it’s important to us to be in a workspace where we have more support and more space to grow. Look out LIC, we’re here!

Updated bsnug and bspacey now available!

Two of our favorites, the bsnug and the bspacey, have just gone through bhold labs yet again. We’ve updated based on our testers’ feedback, and we have new versions of each, ready for you!

The bsnug earbud wrap now features a hollow core. Just thread your earbuds through the bsnug, and then wrap as much or as little of the cord as you like. The new design makes it convenient to shorten the cord when you’re on a run, or wrap the cord completely when you need to put it away. The unique shape of the bsnug protects your microphone from damage and keeps the cord kink-free to increase its lifetime.

This is now available in addition to the bsnug stand, which holds your phone up when you're video chatting or watching a movie.

The bspacey combo organizer has a new, streamlined shape. A combination of the bneat earbud winder and the bstrong hook, the bspacey is light and strong and can be tossed into your bag with ease. The new streamlined design increases the strength of the hook without adding any additional bulk.

What should we put through bhold labs next?

Our 3D printed accessories in action

We wanted to introduce people to bhold in a new way, with our 3D printed accessories in action. So we made a new video, featuring everything from the bheard sound pod to the bholdable tumbler to the bsteady phone mount. Check it out below and tell us what you think!

February events: 3D Printshow and NY NOW

Want to see what we've been up to? We’ll be at 3D Printshow and NY NOW in New York this February.

3D Printshow

3D Printshow, the first global 3D printing event, is in New York for the first time. It has all the latest in 3D printing, including a catwalk for 3D printed fashion, a hospital section to see 3D printed organs and prosthetics, an arts gallery, and a 3D printed car. (We know we’re most excited about the feature on 3D printing in space.) You can register here to explore everything about the future of the technology.

We’ll be presenting at the Metropolitan Pavilion in Chelsea from Feb 13-15. Stop by our booth, and check out our bholdable espresso tumbler in the 3D Printshow Product Design showcase!

NY NOW with AmDC

We’ve been selected to join the American Design Club to showcase our designs at NY NOW, the market for home + lifestyle. We’ll be in the Accent on Design section at the Javits Center in NYC from Sunday-Thursday, Feb 2-6. If you’re a retailer or another exhibitor, come say hi!

See you next month!

A sound boost for the holidays, the bheard sound pod

Looking to amplify and improve the sound on your phone? Insert your smartphone into the bheard sound pod to hear a full range of sound ― highs, mids and lows. Use it for your music, or when your friend’s on speakerphone.

The bhold sound pod is our newest graduate from bhold labs, where we tried design after design with our testers. We went through 36 versions! In the end, the one that gave us the best sound quality and phone support is the current pod-like shape, one that can only be made in one piece with 3D printing.

A great stocking stuffer if you are still searching for holiday gifts. Fits phones up to 5.3" x 2.7" x 0.5", about the size of a Nexus 4.

A big thanks to our bhold labs testers for their thoughtful feedback!

New phone accessories, and new places to get them

Our first batch of 3D-printed bhold labs designs have graduated, just in time for the holidays! The bsnug stand and the bsteady any-phone car mount are now ready for the big time. And to celebrate, we’ve opened Shapeways and Sculpteo shops as new places to get them.

bsnug stand

On the go? Wrap your earbuds around the bsnug stand to keep them safe and tangle-free. Sticking around? Unwrap your earbuds and use the groove as a phone stand to video chat, watch a movie, or just keep your playlist visible.

Available in two sizes, the bsnug stand is lightweight and small enough to toss in a pocket or bag. Choose the smaller one to stay compact, or go for the larger one for a quicker wrap or a thicker phone (up to 0.4 inches thick).

bsteady any-phone car mount

The flexible design of the bsteady any-phone car mount fits any phone and almost any car. Hang your phone from your car vents to keep your GPS or playlist in easy sight. The any-phone design will still work when you swap in your friend’s phone or upgrade yours, and the open sides mean it’s easy to charge your phone as you go.

More places to get bhold goodies

We're making it easier for you to get bhold goodies by opening up shops on Shapeways and Sculpteo! We're excited to join both designer communities.

If you'd like to see our new designs in person, come find us at our holiday fairs this month!

Come visit us at MAD

Want to see the behind-the-scenes of bhold’s design? Come visit the Museum of Arts and Design (MAD) from December 3rd to 8th, where I’ll be the Shapeways Designer in Residence as part of the museum’s new exhibit Out of Hand: Materializing the Postdigital. It explores the latest trends in digital fabrication in contemporary art, architecture, and design, so bhold fits right in.

Our team will be on-site, designing, printing and tweaking our prototypes as we work on our upcoming products. We’ll also showcase our multi-functional 3D printed accessories, like the bspacey hook and earbud wrap combo and the bholdable thermally-insulated espresso tumbler. It's the future of 3D printing and design, come to life before your eyes.

We’re honored to be included by MAD and Shapeways, the exhibit sponsor. Stop by and ask us anything about the future of 3D printing or design.

See you there!
