Drink Up! Expansions to complete the Bholdable Collection

If you've liked the Bholdable Cup concept for hot sake, tea and coffee, you'll love the new Bholdable Sake Jug! Designed with two walls to insulate and cutouts to fit your fingers exactly, the Jug goes "hand-in-hand" with the Bholdable Cup in form and function.

The best way to experience them is as a set. (We started off naming the jug Btipsy and the set Btipsy Too, but to simplify we'll go with Bholdable for all.)

Thirsty for more than sake? To complete the collection, we've created a new Bholdable Mug as a larger version of the Bholdable Cup which holds a full 6 ounces of coffee, tea, or anything else you love to drink.

Bottoms up!

Shiny New Upgrades at Bhold

We've made some fresh new upgrades at bhold! We're now at bhold.co, and our store has that lovely "new site" smell.

The Bspun, Bsnug and Bstrong are all now available in 3D printed metal which make them great decorative accessories for the home or office, and of course they keep their original functional features, too.

And the Bheard is now available in ceramic. Since its speaker feature is purely acoustic, sound quality is as good as what you've heard with nylon.

Finally, check out our brand new Etsy shop. Check us out, follow us, and favorite us while you're there!

White House Maker Faire

The White House's first ever Maker Faire was a momentous occasion, coinciding with the first ever National Day of Making and hosted by President Obama himself. There was everything from a robotic giraffe to a desktop CNC machine to batteries that charge by simply walking.

bhold founder Susan Taing was invited as Honored Maker, out of 100 invited makers representing 25 states. Check out our pics on Instagram and Facebook, and check out the White House's site to see social media posts from all participants.

The President gave an energizing speech to show his encouragement of the maker movement and to announce several supporting initiatives, including:

  • Partnerships with 13 federal agencies and companies to expand access to start-up grants, strengthen relationships with American manufacturers and major retailers, and offer business mentoring and training.
  • The launch of 4 new high tech manufacturing hubs across the country with more on the way, with new efforts led by the Administration and by more than 90 mayors to spur manufacturing innovation and entrepreneurship. See the report here.

In his speech, President Obama proclaimed that "America has always been a nation of tinkerers, inventors, and entrepreneurs," adding that the goal was to keep innovation and creativity strong enough to allow Americans to make anything. "Today's DIY is tomorrow's Made in America… One of the best ways to create more jobs is by boosting American manufacturing."

To take part in this amazing movement, keep an eye out for what’s coming next from the government, and most importantly… get out there and make!

Meet us at Northside

On June 12-13 from 12-7pm, we're exhibiting at the Trade Show at Northside Festival, a discovery festival in its 6th year in Brooklyn. There will be Music, Film and Innovation segments throughout the 8 days, and the Trade Show will be free to attend. We'll bring our products and prototypes ready to present to you there. Mark your calendars!

The new Bjacked, a playful cable organizer set

We're happy to announce today our latest new product, the Bjacked charger cable set! It's a ball and jack combo of the Bspun jack-shaped cable wrap and the Bbouncy ball-shaped cable clip.

The Bspun Cable Wrap keeps your small cords for phones and tablets in control, while the Bbouncy Cable Clip keeps your large cords for laptops and other electronic devices neat and tidy. Both are flexibly designed to fit a range of sizes and are light enough to toss into a laptop bag to keep your cords from kinking on the go. Each organizer can also be used at home for cable organization.

The Bspun actually spins like a top, and the Bbouncy features a living hinge and a magnetic closure.

See the evolution of bjacked's product versions over time! Thank you to our labs testers for their great feedback.

Playful, simple yet practical, they’re perfect for keeping cables neat while on the go. Take them for a spin now.

Introducing bhold minis

It’s our first birthday! We're celebrating today by introducing bhold minis.

Minis are miniatures of our most iconic designs. We’ll make a new set available each year, so you can collect them all! Our inaugural set features three of our most popular designs: the bholdable espresso cup, which was featured in 3D Printshow's Product Design Showcase and in the Museum of Arts and Design, the bheard sound pod, which was featured in the New York Times, and the bsnug earbud wrap, which we’ve heard from you is your overall favorite. A multicolor set comes with three minis and are perfect as a decorative accessory.

The best part? A set of minis is only $15. Or, stop by at one of our upcoming events or on Twitter today, and a few lucky people will get minis on us.

Thank you all for your support over our first year. Here’s to another great year of 3D printing designs inspired by you!

note: Our actual birthday was on April 26th, but we are observing it today :)

Back at MAD as Shapeways Designer in Residence

From April 15-20, we'll be back at the Museum of Arts and Design (MAD) in New York City as the Shapeways Designer in Residence for the final week of the Out of Hand: Materializing the Postdigital exhibit. Stop by to see how computer-aided production has impacted art, architecture and design, all on the 2nd floor of the museum. We’ll be around all week, so come over and ask us anything about 3D printing and design!

You'll also find bhold at The Store at MAD, where the bholdable espresso cup and bheard sound pod will be available for purchase.

Find us at Maker Faires in CA and CT

We'll be at Maker Faire Bay Area, the original Maker Faire, on May 17-18th, and at Westport Mini Maker Faire on April 26th.
